Job Title: Children’s Director
Reports to: Senior Minister
Position Type: Full-Time
Objectives: Birth – 5th Grade
The Children’s Director will design, coordinate, and lead a comprehensive children’s ministry
program to build young disciples for Christ. This ministry should create a nurturing environment
for spiritual growth, equip children for a lifelong relationship with Christ, and inspire them to
actively engage in the church community.
This role is integral to the church’s mission of fostering a Christ-centered community. The
Children’s Director will model an authentic Christian life and provide spiritual direction to
children, families, and volunteers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in children’s ministry, theology, education, or a related field preferred or at
least two years of relevant experience.
Strong biblical knowledge and sound theology rooted in the Restoration Movement.
Demonstrated experience in children’s ministry, education, or a similar role.
Effective communication skills for engaging with children, parents, staff, and the congregation.
Proficiency in using social media, modern communication platforms, and A/V tools for ministry
promotion.
Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
Must be an immersed believer in good standing, actively pursuing a relationship with Christ.
Supports and adheres to UCC’s mission, vision, and statement of faith.Character
Strong people skills with the ability to relate to a diverse group of children and their families.
Capable of handling sensitive situations with grace and biblical wisdom.
Exemplifies humility, teachability, and a willingness to grow spiritually and professionally.
Lives a life that reflects Christian values and integrity both inside and outside the church.
Committed to fostering a culture of discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development: Create children’s programming for implementation Sunday mornings
and ensuring each area is well staffed with dedicated volunteers.
Parent Partnership: Provide resources and encouragement for parents to disciple their children at
home. Maintain open communication to address their concerns and expectations.
Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, and empower a team of dedicated volunteers. Cultivate a
culture of collaboration and shared responsibility within the ministry. Ensure that policies are
clearly communicated and enforced.
Community Outreach: Establish partnerships with local schools and community organizations to
extend the church’s influence and connect with the unchurched.
Event Planning: Organize annual and seasonal events that foster fellowship and spiritual growth
(e.g. Camp, Retreats etc.).
Promotion & Communication: Use modern tools (social media, email, and church website) to
promote ministry events, share testimonies, and keep members informed.
Administrative Management: Maintain an organized ministry calendar, manage the children’s
ministry budget, create an environment of safety and security for the children and ensure
alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
All other duties as assigned.
Expectations
Regular office hours Monday – Friday (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM). Expectation is that those hours
will change to reflect evening events and other activities as we understand the need for flexibility
to meet the needs of the children and families.Oversee Sunday programming for the children’s ministry area week to week.
Actively participate in church services, staff meetings, and church-wide activities.
Model and encourage a lifestyle of prayer, Bible study, and Christ-centered living.
Engage in continuous learning by attending conferences, seminars, and training to stay updated
on best practices in children’s ministry.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Salary: Up to $40,000.
Health Stipend: $5,000 annually.
Vacation: 10 days, including up to two Sundays off annually.
Personal Days: 5 days.
Opportunities for professional development and growth within the church community.
The senior minister and elders will provide a semi-annual evaluation.
