Kids Hope USA
My name is Susan Clarke and I have been called to be Union Church’s KIDS HOPE USA Director. Over the past six years, I have been blessed to be able to match adult mentors with elementary students in need. These mentors spend one hour a week during school hours with their student; assisting with assignments, playing games and building relationships. The students that are a part of KIDS HOPE have been referred by their teachers as children at risk. Several matches have continued to Honey Creek Middle School—where students and mentors grow with participation in strengths surveys and the Winning Futures program. This branch of the program is called KIDS HOPE NEXT.
I have a BS in Elementary education/Bible from Kentucky Christian University and was a licensed teacher, teaching all day Kindergarten for nine years, and substitute teaching for five years. In our community, I serve as a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for abused and neglected children that have been placed in the system and I am a member of the Board of Wabash Valley Youth for Christ, serving as Board Secretary.
My husband, Marvin, and I live in beautiful downtown Bowling Green. We are proud parents of four boys and two girls (four of his, two of mine) and Marvin has 10 grandchildren. We are also “parents” to Oliver, Jake and Rupert, our three Yorkshire terriers. We enjoy Pacer basketball, Colts football and our little cabin in the Brown County woods.
